The Sinner – Cora Tanner (Jessica Biel) é casada e tem uma filha. Os três passam o dia na praia e subitamente ela acaba matando brutalmente um homem. Cora se sente muito confusa depois do crime e o investigador Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) tenta entender os motivos que levaram ela a fazer isso.
